Don Phillips, Senior Director, brings a career of financial and operational experience to Academy’s clients. Most recently, Don retired as the CFO of Waste Pro, USA, a regional waste hauler with landfill and recycling facilities, operating from sixty locations in eight states throughout the Southeast.
During his tenure at Waste Pro, Don closed five significant credit facilities – including its largest for $275 million, completed thirty acquisitions, and was part of a team that grew that business to over one-half billion dollars in revenue. He was responsible for all IT functions as well as Human Resources and the Company’s risk management strategy.
Prior to Waste Pro, Don successfully operated and sold Accountants on Call and Accountants Executive Search of Orlando from its start in 1988 to a sale in 1998. He held significant management positions with both Risdon Corporation, an international manufacturer and Crouse Hinds Corporation, a Fortune 500 Company. He began his career with General Electric Company and is a graduate of their Financial management program.
Don currently serves as a board member for Big Truck Rentals and Trucks and Parts, both suppliers to the waste industry. Don is a graduate of Rollins College with both an MBA and BA degree.
Tim O’Toole, Founder and CEO, is a CPA and CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) with over forty years of experience serving owner-managed, middle market companies in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, wholesale, retail, construction, hospitality and service-based businesses.
He was one of four founding shareholders in one of Central Florida’s premier public accounting firms, known for providing leading edge services to privately-held organizations. He spent twenty-four years with that firm, growing it from nine to almost fifty professionals and a stellar reputation within the business community. He also spent eleven years with what is now the world’s largest public accounting firm in both their Dayton, OH and Orlando, FL offices. He has also held senior financial positions with two rapidly-growing, privately-held companies.
Tim is a graduate of the University of Dayton and has a history of appointments to Boards of Directors.
